01 Bachelor’s Degree Major Concentration Program

According to the government’s junior college promotion policy in 2008, the reorganization into a 4-year lifelong vocational education institution to offer degrees has been completed. This is in order to provide the opportunity of continued education to individuals with associate degrees. Major concentration programs for juniors and seniors have been established towards bachelor’s degrees.
The bachelor’s degree major concentration programs requiring industry work experience include those in the Department of Digital Culture Contents Development, Department of Administration, and Department of Civil Engineering. In the bachelor’s degree major concentration program, the students shall have equal or greater degrees in identical fields. And, through continued education and the promotion of individuals with professional technical skills, the University will execute concentrated education focused on work experience, knowledge, and technology. The vocational training process will be as follows: graduation from junior college à employment à completion of major concentration program à acquisition of 4-year bachelor’s degree. (The students must have at least 9months to 1 year of experience at businesses related to the major field studied at the junior college in order to apply to this program.)
The bachelor’s degree major concentration programs that do not require industry work experience includes Department of Tourism and English, Department of Visual Content Development, Department of Information Communication and Computer Network, Department of Leisure Sports, and Department of Art and Design. In the bachelor’s degree major concentration program, the students must be graduates from junior colleges with the same major, and they will be trained in areas related to the actual work to become technical professionals equipped with theory and executive ability. The vocational training process will be as follows: graduation from junior college à completion of major concentration program à acquisition of 4-year bachelor’s degree.

02 Industry Commissioned Education Course

The Industry Commissioned Education Course is a system where students working for national or local governments, public institutions, newspapers, broadcasting stations, schools, private schools, medical institutions, or when running a business, farming, or fishing for a living, can be admitted to the university as supernumerary students through the agreement of the president of that business and the president of the university. After completion of set courses, the student will be able to obtain an associate degree. The objective of this program is to provide the opportunity of education to individuals that had to begin work without going to college after graduating from high school, for the improvement of their qualifications and technical abilities, and also to systematically promote the academy-industry cooperation education. Night courses are offered in different areas, including the Department of Digital Cultural Content Development in Yanggu, Department of Information Communication and Computer Network in Inje, Department of Visual Content Development in Hongcheon, and Department of Internet Business in Cheolwon.

03 Part-time Student Program

As the only leader in lifelong education in Gangwon Province, Hallym Polytechnic University has established and is operating a part-time student system by creating a masterpiece university in lifelong education, through the construction of the virtuous cycle of work and study with the support of reemployment and business startup of residents. Adult students can enjoy identical benefits available to regular students, and the credits obtained through this program can be applied toward the scholarships if the students decide to further pursue studies at Hallym Polytechnic University. Also available are constant study advising and employment consulting, and study clubs and mentoring systems. From 2012, in order to aid the employment and business setup of adult students, individual offices are supplied at Gangwon Senior Biz Plaza located in Chuncheon-si Animation Museum for business incubation, for customized business setup education and consulting.

04 Credit Bank System

Beginning in March 2009, Hallym Polytechnic established a Credit Bank System at our Continuing Education Center, in the name of the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, where students can obtain college credits for degrees. The Credit Bank System refers to a system in which a high school graduate can enter the program regardless of scores on the College Scholastic Ability Test or student transcripts according to the regulations on credit approval and the executive order, in order to obtain associate or bachelor’s degrees authorized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. Hallym Polytechnic University offers courses in Bachelor’s of Arts course in Children’s Education and Psychology, and Industrial Art Associate Degree in Cosmetics (Beauty Art), and also the national license of Lifelong Education Instructor (2nd degree).With the quickly changing times, new academic fields and jobs are being created, leading to an increased need for professional knowledge and technology. Busy individuals with jobs can attain self-realization and begin a second field of interest through the education in humanities and liberal arts, in order to advance into higher education.
